I know that this tournament hasn’t been great for us so far! I don’t want to go into what has already happened, but I want to tell one thing very confidently, that the reasons what the media is projecting and the critics are telling are not the reasons for your defeats.
If any one tells that you are not good enough for this form of cricket or something similar, don’t believe it. Don’t even have slightest doubt about your abilities in any form of cricket. The people who say such things are either lying or they don’t understand cricket or they are playing safe by supporting other teams as our team has lost matches.
We are losing matches because our confidence is going down after each loss and the comments from different corners have increased the pressure on us. Our performance has not been good because we are not able to come out that pressure. It is as simple as that!!! Let us forget about what has happened so far and let us look forward.
As I said, the reason for our losses has not been big. We just have to come out of
i. Fear of losing wicket
ii. Fear of not hitting the ball hard or in gaps
iii. ‘What if we don’t get big score on the board!’
iv. ‘What if I get out the next ball!’
v. ‘What if I again fail in this match as a batsman!’
vi. ‘What if the batsman hits boundary for this ball and I don’t get a wicket!’
vii. ‘What if I don’t stop this ball and it reaches boundary!’
viii. ‘Let me bowl a short ball and hope the batsman hits the ball short of boundary where we have our fielder’
ix. ‘Let us hope that we don’t win the toss, so that we will not be blamed for not making correct decision of bowling or batting first’
Let us be confident and think something that is true–
i. ‘I have made big scores in many games before without losing wicket and I will do it again today, not a big deal!!
ii. ‘Let me keep an eye on field setting and hit the ball in gaps and take singles and hit boundaries on bad balls’
iii. ‘I don’t want to think about the score board, let me play this ball well’
iv. ‘I am going to take single if I don’t get a short ball and will take a boundary for short ball’
v. ‘I have come out failures many times and will do it again today’
vi. ‘Let me keep the line and length proper, he will not be able to take boundary for sure’
vii. ‘I have saved many runs for my team by my good fielding, it is just my second nature, how can I doubt that!’
viii. ‘I don’t care whether I get a wicket or not, I am going bowl the ball at right places, if I give 16-20 runs from 4 overs the opposite team will be short of those runs and throw the wicket any way while trying to make an effort to hit the ball hard’
ix. ‘We are going to do this (field or bat) upon winning the toss, as the pitch is in favour of this’ or ‘We are going to take this as the opposite team always thinks about taking this (field or bat first) and let us disturb their plan this time for a change!!!’
That’s it from my side… I am confident of our team’s abilities and looking forward to see you do well in today’s match!!! J
